The Rooms
We currently offer five rooms of great charm that create a unique and refined environment.
The Callis House was moved to its current location at 345 Main Street in late 2016 and will serve as a hotel for those fortunate enough to discover, or perhaps, rediscover Mathews County. The outside will remain as true to original as possible. The ravages of time required a complete renovation of the interior with the result being completely updated accommodations.

What Mathews Has to Offer
Mathews County is the second smallest rural county in Virginia with just 86 square miles and has more than 217 miles of shoreline. The county is perhaps best know for its miles of waterfront sites, with a number of public, state-maintained beaches. There are ample opportunities for recreational fishing, boating, and beach activities. And with the Callis House Inn conveniently located on Main Street, the town's popular restaurants and shops are just a few minutes walk away.
Mathews County has become a bedroom community for the Hampton Roads area, a haven for retirees, and an increasingly popular tourist destination. Residents and tourists partake of the various sports-fishing charters in the county, bird watching, bicycling, and other recreational opportunities.
